Three of them. One entirely plant-based, two built on fish landed by local boats.

The Three

A short menu on purpose. Three tacos that each do something different, rather than eight that are the same taco with the filling swapped.

Cauliflower Tacos

280฿ Plant-based

Lightly browned cauliflower and a tangy pickled red onion and parsley salad, drizzled with black tahini.

Cauliflower browned hard rather than steamed, so it keeps bite and picks up the caramelised edges that make it taste of something. The pickled red onion is the acid, the parsley salad is the freshness, and the black tahini underneath is what stops it being a vegetable taco you have had before — nutty, slightly bitter, and heavy enough to stand in for the richness dairy would normally bring. Entirely plant-based, with nothing pretending to be meat.

Snapper Tacos

320฿ Wild-caught

Local snapper seared on the griddle, roasted tomato salsa, green chilli relish and cilantro.

Local snapper seared on the griddle rather than battered and fried, which keeps the fish tasting like fish. Roasted tomato salsa for sweetness and body, green chilli relish for heat, cilantro to lift it. The snapper is wild-caught and landed by local boats, which is the reason a plain seared fillet works here at all.

Shrimp Tacos

320฿ Wild-caught

Sautéed fresh shrimp with a chilli and nut aioli, butterhead lettuce and daikon radish.

Sautéed fresh shrimp with a chilli and nut aioli — the aioli is the point, rich and a little smoky, doing the job mayonnaise usually does badly. Butterhead lettuce and daikon radish underneath for crunch and cold against the warm shrimp. The most generous of the three.

Vegan and Pescatarian at the Same Table

This is the reason the taco section exists in the shape it does. Tacos are the most naturally shareable thing on a menu, and they are usually where a mixed table falls apart — the vegan gets one option, everyone else gets four, and the ordering turns into a negotiation.

Here the cauliflower taco is not the concession. It was built to be ordered by people who eat fish, and it regularly is. No dairy, no meat substitute, nothing pretending to be something else — just cauliflower treated properly, which turns out to be enough.

That runs through the rest of the menu too: two-thirds of it is entirely plant-based and the remaining third is wild-caught seafood, with no land meat anywhere. More on the plant-based side and the seafood side.

How to Judge a Taco on This Island

Koh Phangan has more tacos than you would expect for a Thai island, and the range is wide. Four things worth knowing, wherever you order them.

  1. 1

The filling should be cooked to order

Fish and shrimp go from good to rubbery in the time it takes to sit in a warming tray. If tacos arrive within two minutes of ordering on a busy night, something was already made.

  2. 2

    Look for acid and crunch

A taco without something pickled or something raw is just a filled tortilla. Pickled onion, radish, a sharp salad — one of those should be in there or it will taste flat by the third bite.

  3. 3

Three is the right number to order

Tacos are built for sharing and comparing. One of each beats three of one, and it is how you find out what a kitchen is actually good at.

  4. 4

Ask where the fish is from

On an island with its own boats there is no reason for the fish in a taco to have come frozen off a truck. A kitchen that can name the fish is a kitchen that chose it.

A stunning and very relaxed sunset spot with chill music. Excellent, attentive service. We ordered a total of seven different dishes, all of which were delicious. The ceviche is especially recommended, as is the sourdough bread. Great value for money.

Really nice vibe especially sunset time. The food is good. I have tried already 4 dishes and mostly I was satisfied. It’s another my favorite place to see the sunset 😊

Questions about the tacos

Where can I get tacos in Koh Phangan?

We serve three — cauliflower with black tahini, seared local snapper, and shrimp with chilli-nut aioli — daily 12:00 – 21:00, adults only.

Are there vegan tacos in Koh Phangan?

Yes. Our cauliflower taco is entirely plant-based, with no dairy and no meat substitute, and it sits on the same menu as the seafood tacos so a mixed table can order together.

Which one should I order?

They do different jobs — the snapper is the cleanest, the shrimp the richest, the cauliflower the most surprising. One of each is the answer.

How much do they cost?

280–320฿ each, reflecting wild-caught fish and shrimp and cooking to order.
